Wrap Care

Your Butterfly Baby Co. woven wrap will come to you in loomstate without undergoing a finishing wash. Because of this, you MUST wash your wrap according to the instructions in the wrap brochure, which are also located on the care tag and below, BEFORE using your wrap.

***Please note that your wrap will shrink up to 10% after washing. We cut our wraps longer to account for this shrinkage.
***Our budget wraps may arrive with small beauty marks that will not effect the safety/structural integrity of your woven wrap. These could include nubs, weavers knots, double weft threads, or weft lines. We strive to make sure each wrap has minimal marks, but occasionally this is unavoidable. Double weft threads are very noticeable before washing, but once the wrap has been prepped the yarns puff up and it will no longer be noticeable. Feel free to email us with any questions or concerns, we are happy to help!

– For 100% Cotton wraps we recommend an initial wash in COLD water, on gentle cycle, with no spin using a mild liquid detergent. Subsequent washes should be in COLD water on gentle cycle. Wraps should always be washed separately using a mild/natural liquid detergent without optical brighteners to preserve the integrity of the fabric and color. DO NOT use bleach or fabric softeners. Wraps should be tumble dried on low heat. Steam ironing is strongly recommended.

– For Superwash Merino Lambswool blend wraps we recommend an initial wash in WARM water, on gentle cycle, with no spin using a mild liquid wool wash. Subsequent washes should be in WARM water on gentle cycle. Wraps should always be washed separately using a mild/natural liquid wool wash without brighteners to preserve the integrity of the fabric and color. Wraps should be tumble dried on low heat. We strongly recommend tumble drying on low heat after the wrap’s initial wash. If ironing is needed, iron on the “wool” setting or with a warm iron using steam. Wash sparingly.

– For Tencel Blend wraps we recommend an initial wash in WARM water, on gentle cycle with no spin using a mild, liquid detergent. Subsequent washed should be in COLD water on gentle cycle. Wraps should always be washed separately with a mild/liquid detergent without brighteners to preserve the integrity of the fabric and color. Wraps should be tumble dried on low heat or air dried. If ironing is needed, iron on WARM setting.

Ring Sling Care

For wrap conversion ring slings should follow the above care depending on the blend. When drying the ring sling we find it best to wrap a sock around the rings using a hair tie or rubber band to secure the sock over the rings. This will prevent the rings from damaging the inside of the dryer.

– For wrap conversion buckles it is recommended to wash on a hand wash or delicate cycle on cold. We also recommend washing them inside a laundry bag to keep the straps from becoming tangled or twisted. Hang to dry then toss in the dryer with dryer balls and no heat to soften up since air drying usually leaves everything a little on the stiff side.

Butterfly Baby Wrap Scrap Tote Care

– Totes will arrive to you in loomstate but will not require an initial wash before use. Machine wash separately and sparingly in COLD water on gentle cycle. Air dry flat. Steam ironing is strongly recommended once tote has dried. Totes will shrink up to 10% post wash.

Butterfly Baby Scarf Care

– Scarves will arrive to you in loomstate and will require an initial wash before use. Machine wash separately in COLD on gentle cycle. Tumble dry on low heat. Steam ironing 100% Cotton scarves is strongly recommended. Superwash Lambswool can be ironed on the wool setting with steam if needed. Scarves will shrink up to 10% post wash.

It is important to always inspect your wrap for wear and damage before and after each wash and before each use.
